Mission Statement
IT TAKES TWO, INC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of young people and increasing the opportunities of youth throughout Maryland and surrounding areas. Our mission is to enhance the educational experiences for young people from single parent households by awarding scholarships to address a variety of basic as well as expansive educational needs. It is our goal to promote the significance of education, build self-awareness, and encourage our youth; ultimately creating tomorrow's leaders today. Vision Our vision is simple: to create tomorrow’s leader today, one community at a time.
Description
In our committment to improving the educational journey of students living in single parent homes, our scholarships are awarded to students in grade four through college. We feel that by starting in fourth grade we can begin to cultivate an attitude of academic excellence; we can start to formulate students' thinking so that once they reach high school they are prepared to pursue higher education opportunities with increased ease.
Five scholarships are awarded each year. Currently, we are serving Baltimore City and the following MD Counties: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Charles, Prince George's, and Montgomery. To date, we have awarded 38 scholarships totaling over $14,000 to students in grades four (4) through college providing school supplies, books, uniforms, academic and sports registration fees, laptops, internet, and tutoring for the school year.
Students' social and emotional well-being is important to their academic success; therefore, through our life skills program, Positioned for Greatness Youth Program, we assist middle and high school students through these transformative years while helping create a life after high school plan. We focus on anti-bullying, college and career readiness, youth entrepreneurship, financial literacy, community service, and leadership over the course of nine months. They attend college tours and participate in career shadow days.
