Mission Statement
Cystic Fibrosis is a life shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and the digestive system. There are over 10,000 people living with cystic fibrosis in the UK. Around half will live past 41 years of age. Each week five babies are born with CF and two young people die from the condition.
Description
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition affecting more than 10,400 people in the UK. You are born with CF, you cannot catch it, but one in 25 of us carries the faulty gene, usually without knowing it.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust Support Service provides advice and information for those affected by cystic fibrosis, their families and their carers. We fund medical and scientific research aimed at understanding, treating and curing cystic fibrosis.
