Description
Drug Free Pennsylvania (DFPA) is a statewide non-profit organization that strives to reduce substance abuse in the Commonwealth through several innovative and exciting prevention programs. DFPA began in 1990, by serving employers with cost-effective drug-free workplace programs such as drug testing, training and policies. DFPA is currently the leading statewide provider of drug-free workplace services, with nearly 300 members and more than 43,000 employees enrolled. In 1993, DFPA aligned with The Partnership for a Drug Free America to raise awareness through original, hard-hitting public service announcements. DFPA works with Partnership biannually by conducting comprehensive message distributions to three of the nation's top fifty media markets-- Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. Most recently, DFPA began working with renowned media literacy expert, Dr. Renee Hobbs of Temple University, to create a middle school media literacy curriculum entitled The Media Straight Up! Critical Thinking Skills for Pennsylvania's Youth. DFPA is also conducting a statewide media literacy conference in Harrisburg this year.
