The Hispanic Heritage Foundation identifies, inspires, promotes and prepares Latino role models through national leadership, cultural, educational and workforce programs.

Description

The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards were founded in 1998 to celebrate the accomplishments of Latino high school seniors in the classroom and community across the country. Entering its 10th anniversary in 2007, this national leadership program collects more than 13,000 applications after an aggressive and creative outreach campaign including radio and TV PSAs with NBC, Telemundo, MTV and A&E; print ads in English and Spanish-language publications; 12,000 posters hung in over 6,000 high schools; 250,000 hard-copy applications distributed in 5,000 Subway restaurants; and through compelling stories placed in the press by the HHF PR team. The students apply to nine categories as distinguished local committees select 216 regional winners who receive educational grants totaling more than $600,000.
