SQBGC's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, as they are often at risk. The organization is committed to helping these young people realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Founded in 1957, SQBGC's goal is to help young people improve their lives by building self-esteem and developing values and skills during critical periods of growth.
SQBGC is part of the nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and adheres to strict standards of community and youth development excellence. It maintains professionally staffed, center-based programs for youngsters ages 6-18 from the Southwest Queens area, with the greatest concentration coming from Richmond Hill, Ozone Park, the Rockaways, South Ozone Park, and Jamaica. With a Club membership of more then 1,000 youth, SQBGC provides services for at-risk youth through innovative and effective programs and activities in Education, Employment, Youth Development, the Arts, Physical Education and Technology.
