Through it support of the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum the Foundation preserves the history of U.S. Marine Corps aviation, honors the service of its personnel and inspires in all generations an appreciation for America's freedoms and values. It accomplishes its mission by providing funding and volunteers to the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum and by offering educational activities and programs to the public, schools, community groups and Marines.
The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum has the largest collection in the world of vintage aircraft flown by U.S. Marine Corps aviators. The Museum is open to the public free of charge six days per week and is staffed by volunteers many of whom served as military pilots and air crew. On display are 27 aircraft as well as hundreds of artifacts from the birth of Marine Corps aviation in 1919 to the present day. The collection and the programs offered at the Museum attract local, national and international visitors and it has a large social media following of aircraft and history aficiandos.
