Would you recommend HOSPICE CARE OF THE WEST/COMPASSUS HOSPICE FAMILY?
If you are looking to be a hospice volunteer, HOTW is a great place to start. They will give you a comprehensive training before placing you with a patient. If you have any questions, the volunteer coordinators will assist and answer all your questions. And they are SUPER nice to deal with. Every now and then, you will receive continuing education materials to keep you up to date on the regulations and/or health and safety issues. I've been a hospice volunteer since 2000 and HOTW is the third organization. It is not my intention to discount other organizations by any means but I have to say that HOTW is really well organized and makes it easy for us volunteers do what we do for the patients. And Donna, our coordinator, is AWESOME !!
I have been a volunteer with Hospice Care of the West since 2007 and it is a great organization. I am continually amazed at how a short friendly visit by me can truly brighten the day for patients and for their families. I love making someone's day! The staff at HCOTW is so caring and compassionate and they really appreciate their volunteers. I would highly reccomend HCOTW to anyone who is looking for a volunteer opportunity where they can make a difference in someone's life.
I have been volunteering with Hospice Care of the West since August of 2009. This organization provides a wonderful service for the patients and their families. The volunteer coordinator and her staff provide an excellent orientation along with on-going guidance and support for the volunteers. I visit some of the patients by myself and some of the patients accompanied by my therapy dog, Lady. The visits take place in Assisted Living facilities, Skilled Care facilities, Board and Care homes, and patient homes. This is a very rewarding volunteer experience.
I have been volunteering for HCOTW for over a year now and had the chance to meet the staff: they all are knowledgeable, compassionate, understanding and efficient. Their patients are appreciative and loving. What more can you ask? I will keep volunteering for Hospice Care of the West.
I volunteer at Hospice of the West with my therapy dog Elvis. It is wonderful to see how a few minutes visiting with my dog cheers people up and how much they look forward to our visits. This organization is very organized and appreciative of my time. I have enjoyed my experience with Hospice both from the patient visiting aspect and from dealing with the staff in the office.
