Mission Statement

The Portable Playhouse fosters creative expression for children and adults coping with illness or injury. Recent research indicates patients' physical well being is linked to their emotional and spiritual well-being; consequently the Portable Playhouse services have been developed for the purpose of reducing and minimizing trauma during a time of physical and emotional vulnerability. All children and adults, regardless of their condition or limitations, can participate in creating a personalized item.

Description

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which provides a unique art program to pediatric units in hospitals. Recognizing the need for innovative and healthy distractions, our mission was to design a program to create a happy, healthy environment for children through artistic expression. The Portable Playhouse volunteers work with children in all stages of recovery, whether from a broken bone or terminally ill. Our program enhances the healing process and nurtures the human spirit.
