It is the mission of the Incarcerated Youth Program to promote academicrigor, and provide opportunities for academic success through experiential learning and to foster a climate that both develops and supports students wholistically. This will enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills and values necessary to live rich and fullfilling lives as responsible , productiveand enlightened members of democratic society.

Description

The Incarcerated Youth Program is a District of Columbia Public Schools Alternative School for juvenile students who have been charged as adults. We service youth ages 16-17 and adult Special Education students, who are ages 18-22. We provide a rigorous school program for students that provides them with the opportunity to complete Carnegie Unit credits towards their high school diploma. Students are also offered the opporunity to participate in credit recovery and enrichment classes after school. These include Reading, Chess, Spanish and Art.
