Description

ELITE, International at a Glance

ELITE, International was founded in 2002 by JAH'mena Nichole Wright and GeneviƩve L. Jones-Wright. The founders--who grew up in Southeast San Diego--wanted young ladies to have as their guides, through their transition from adolescence into adulthood, young, talented, and ambitious women who remind them that they too can soar to their highest heights.

The ladies of ELITE, International know firsthand that the transition from adolescence to adulthood for young women can be difficult without the proper tools: impenetrable positive self-esteem and guidance from other women who care. And, we made a vow to provide these tools to young ladies ages 11-18.

We are a young non-profit organization--young in the sense that we received non-profit status in 2005 and our tax-exempt status in 2006. We are driven by our desire to make a difference in the community by "touching at least one girl." We reinforce the principles of positive self-esteem, unity and teamwork, leadership and self-determination, and community participation to our young ladies, who we call Exemplars.

We plan to instill these principles through various seminars, workshops and other events throughout the year. These events include, but are not limited to, self-esteem retreats, fashion and talent shows, community service projects, college preparation seminars, and our annual Lil' Ladies Luncheon.
