Mission Statement

The Friends of the Kansas City Public Library are volunteers dedicated to promoting the library's programs and activities by providing resources and support to the library system and the community it serves.

Description

The Friends organization has been helping the Kansas City Public Library for over 25 years by holding various fundraising programs that benefit all 10 facilities by helping purchase needed supplies and services not otherwise obtained through the library budget. The Friends also sponsor several programs, such as the Bradbury Speaker Series, the MLS scholarship program, trips to the ALA conference, and by helping out at library events throughout the year. The biggest fundraiser is the annual book sale, but books are sold through other avenues as well.
