Westy Tree Steward Trees in the city are facing the dual challenges of Emerald Ash Borer and other emerging pests along with climate change. These challenges will significantly alter the existing canopy while also presenting opportunities to diversify our trees with more appropriate species for our environment. Westy Tree Stewards will not only assist in caring for City-owned trees, they will work to maintain and grow the urban tree canopy on private property. Approximately 98% of all trees in Westminster are located on private property. Westy Tree Stewards play a very important role in communicating with property owners about actions they can take to contribute to a healthy and resilient urban forest.
