Do you like the snow? Or spending time outside in the the winter? If so, this is the position for you! The Westy Snowbusters shovel snow from the walkways of a senior and/or disabled citizens of the City of Westminster who are unable to afford a service. The Snowbuster will be matched with a resident from the waiting list that lives within a 2 mile radius of your home or if distance isn’t a problem for you we can pair you with a resident in the closest proximity. The Snowbuster must shovel the snow within 24 hours of a measurable snowfall. The Snowbuster is only expected to shovel the walkways, but s/he can choose to further assist the resident by shoveling the resident’s driveway and/or the walk to the front door. You shovel at a time of day that works best for you, we work around YOUR schedule.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Prairie Dog Mapping Are you interested in collecting data? Join the Open Space team and be a part of the collection of data that will serve the City for years to come. GIS Volunteers are responsible for mapping the footprint of all prairie dog colonies in the City of Westminster open space areas. In addition, they will be counting and logging the number of prairie dog burrows and individual prairie dogs in these open spaces. Volunteers will map the colony boundary by walking predetermined sections of open space and log observations into an iPad using GIS technology provided by the City. Prairie dogs will be viewed from a distance, binoculars are recommended and will be supplied by the City. Volunteers will work alongside other volunteers and Open Space staff to complete this project. GIS experience preferred but not required Willingness to learn Knowledge and love of the outdoors is helpful Ability to perform light to heavy physical work in all outdoor conditions Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Environment: Includes direct sun exposure, uneven terrain and potential for rattlesnakes. Skills : GIS Surveying Data Collection Use of binoculars/scopes

Armed Tribute Garden Caretaker The City of Westminster is looking for volunteers to help care for the Armed Forces Tribute Garden. Volunteers will assist in cleaning and maintaining the garden. The garden recognizes over 1,600 honorees and provides a place to respect those who have served. Some of the responsibilities include: Collecting trash, Blowing leaves, Pulling weeds, and Watering plants on most days. Specific instructions will be provided upon starting the position. More involved projects may include laying sand on memorial bricks to fill gaps and re-mulching the bases of trees. These projects will be arranged by City staff and communicated to caretakers. All cleaning and maintenance supplies will be provided by the City. Volunteers will mostly work alone, but will occasionally interact with other volunteers and city staff. Environment: Outdoors, direct sun exposure with variable shade Skills: Knowledge on how to use blowing equipment

Volunteer at Legacy Golf Course Under the direction of the golf professionals, the starter is responsible for making sure that golfers tee off when they are supposed to using excellent customer service. Starters call golfers to the tee and make sure the proper golfers groups are teeing off and that all members of the group have paid for their round. Starters use a point of sale computer/register and assist with answering phones. Starters may also be responsible for assisting guests on the 10th tee when we have back 9 starts. Flexible schedules.
