Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.

The mission of Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children is to provide, with dignity and love, a continuum of care from homelessness to self-sufficiency for women and their children, through services offered by our professional and volunteer staff.
For more than 21 years, under the leadership of Sister Julia Mary Farley, Good Shepherd Center has provided food, clothing, shelter and supportive services for homeless women and children. From mobile outreach to transitional shelter to long-term housing for mothers with disabilities, help is available every step of the way.
Today, Good Shepherd Center serves more than 1,200 women and children every year through our comprehensive programs, providing long-term solutions to poverty and homelessness.
Don't even bother donating or volunteering with these people. I donated a lot of things and never got a thank you. I also was volunteering teaching a class (spending hundreds of my own dollars on things like guitars and toys for the kids), and I got scolded for talking to a teen about how life can get better. This place is incredibly understaffed (obviously for good reason). Don't even bother there are too many other places that you can volunteer where they appreciate you.
