Description

Broward Intensive Halfway House is a state operated secure residential treatment program for male youth between the ages of 14 and 18. The young men are court ordered for having committed various offenses in the community. The average length of stay is 9-12 months. Our youth reside within a 50 mile radius of Pompano Beach to include Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties.

Broward Intensive Halfway House is part of the Department' s Faith- and Community-Based Delinquency Treatment Initiative (FCBDTI). We offer a mentoring program to our youth. All youth are matched with a male mentor either a faith- or community-based mentor depending upon the desires of the family.

In addition to the extensive mentoring component, the initiative offers programming to youth who choose to participate in it, with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy, which is proven to address juvenile negative behavioral patterns that lead to involvement with the juvenile justice system. The initiative provides comprehensive transition planning including educational, vocational and recreational needs. It also works with the school system to build good character and decision-making skills.
