Description
Career Connection Mentoring for Youth with Disabilities
The Career Connection Mentoring Program matches adult volunteer mentors with youth/young adult mentees with disabilities in the Southeast Los Angeles County & North Orange County areas.
Each mentor-mentee pair agrees to work together for a minimum of 1 year, approximately 8 hours a month, including phone, email and in-person contact.
Mentors & their mentees determine the days/times they will meet.
Mentors help their mentees--
-increase self-esteem,
-set career and academic goals,
-determine how to reach these goals
-provide positive feedback and
support as the mentee moves toward
becoming an independent adult.
Working with a mentor helps empower mentees to reach their full potential and develop and reach positive academic, career and personal goals.
The only requirements for becoming a mentor in our program are:
age 21 or older (age 18 with 1 year work experience)
- pass background & TB tests
- able to commit to minimum of 8 hours a month for 1 year
- complete application process
Individuals with & without disabilities are encouraged to apply.
