Description
Destination Imagination is a 501c3 program that teaches students creative problem solving, teamwork, innovation, working under a budget, and out-of-the-box thinking--all skills that prepare them for college, jobs, and real life.
Destination Imagination offer several programs:
The main one is the Destination Imagination Student program--offered to students K-12th grades. They solve one of 6 open-ended challenges by themselves -- with an adult team manager (who is there to keep the students safe and help them understand deadlines--but may not offer suggestions or solutions to the challenges). Teams of 2 to 7 students work for several months to solve the challenge (challenge focuses include architectural, technical, theatrical, and improv). Student then "sell" their solution to the appraisers (judges) at a local, state or Globals tournament.
These 6 challenges are all aligned with national curriculum standards.
Rising Stars! has been designed for our youngest learners -- pre-K through 2nd grade. Written specifically for those young children - there are specific lessons to teach those children teamwork (children that age typically don't want/like to work together) and Creative Problem Solving (CPS) skills.
