Mission Statement
South Central Los Angeles Ministry Project (LAMP) is a non-profit family education center. The student community we serve consists of Latino immigrant mothers and their families; our mission is to strengthen and empower these families through education.
Description
The staff and student programs at LAMP create a loving, welcoming community of hope and support for mothers who attend language (ESL), counselling, and group support classes. While they are in class, Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes are also available for their children. Many families reunite in our PACT (Parents and Children Together) program, where all mothers having children under four years are guided and encouraged to spend intimate time nurturing, reading, and playing with their young children. All classes and services provided at LAMP are free of charge. The resulting community and family growth, as well as individual confidence and empowerment through learning, are quite remarkable.
