Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide quality theater to surrounding communities at a reasonable cost, both through our own theater facility and through outreach programs. Membership is intended to provide a rewarding experience in the production and performance of live theater. Included in our mission is the education of young people through our youth membership program, which provides an opportunity to perform on stage and learn all aspects of theatrical production.

Description

The CDC Community Theatre is a nonprofit, non-equity, â communityâ theater offering live award-winning productions for over 86 years. Founded in 1919, we are proud to be one of the oldest theater groups in the state of New Jersey to provide continuous performing arts programs to our diverse community. With a 300-seat auditorium, we are also one of the largest. Our productions have consistently been recognized for their excellence by NJACT (NJ Association of Community Theaters, formerly RECT), a non-profit corporation dedicated to recognizing achievements by artists of all disciplines involved in the performance and production of Community Theater in NJ.

Our annual program typically consists of two musicals, one drama or comedy, a childrenâ s theater production, a subscriber show, an occasional fundraising program, a junior membersâ show, and our outreach program. A detailed schedule of our activity for the past two seasons is included in the optional support package. We operate on an annual budget of about $85,000 (varies by year according to specific productions scheduled).
