Mission Statement

The mission of Hunger Resource Network is to aid in the alleviation of hunger by coordinating the procurement and distribution of food to those in need through community outreach events benefiting food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.

Description

Hunger Resource Network is a network of business partners, recipient agencies, and volunteers that service those in need by supplementing food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens throughout our network.

Hunger Resource Network (HRN) began in April 2009, and has grown to over 100 volunteers around the Chicago area. Business relationships have been established with local, regional, and national businesses. Recipient Agencies and individual and volunteer groups reach out through our network and service and connect those in need.

In 2009, Hunger Resource Network distributed 63 tons of food plus other essentials for recipient agencies throughout the Chicago area. In 2010, we distributed 74 tons of food, in addition to making 12 connections directly between recipient agencies and business partners. We also expanded our reach into the Fox Valley from Elgin through Yorkville.
