Mission Statement

The mission of Communities in Schools (CIS) is to help young people stay in school, successfully learn and prepare for life by coordinating the connection of community resources in the school setting.

Description

CIS is a non-profit, charitable organization that has been working in Dallas and Collin Counties since 1985 providing direct services and educational support to at-risk students. CIS works directly with students on school campuses, assessing needs, defining and solving problems - one child at a time, together in partnership with thousands of supporters in hundreds of different ways.

We are located at more than 35 schools in the metroplex, including 8 schools in the McKinney area. The Evans CIS program is located at Evans Middle School in McKinney. We provide social services, supportive guidance, mentoring, and tutoring to students 6th grade through 8th grade.
