Description

The University of Texas Elementary School opened its doors in August 2003, launching the first university-school-community partnership of its kind in the state. This open-enrollment charter school, operated by the University of Texas at Austin, is a research-based demonstration school that applies new knowledge produced in the academic setting directly to classrooms in an inner city school.

The school began its fourth year in August 2006 with 220 "Little Longhorns" in grades Pre-K through fourth. Located in east Austin, our students reflect the neighborhoods that surround it. Most are low income, 75% are Hispanic, 22% are Black and 3% are White and Other.
