Mission Statement
Many people do not have the simple things that most take for granted. The American Friends Service Committee Material Assistance Program aims to come up with a material solution for those who are in need. Recipients include domestic violence survivors, recent immigrants, the homeless, natural disaster victims, men and women just out of prison--anyone who is in need of assistance.
Description
Volunteers are needed to sort and display donated items, perform clerical tasks, assist with mailings, and lend a helping hand to recipients. The Material Assistance Program is also interested in volunteers individual interests and talents as many can be useful to the program. Volunteer hours are between 10 and 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers are also needed two weeks prior to and during the semi-annual tag sale, which takes place every October and May. Volunteers assist before the sale sorting and displaying items as well as posting flyers. Extra hands are always welcome during the actual sale as well.
