QUICK OVERVIEW Become a standby volunteer with Ace of Hearts and rescue dogs. MISSION Ace of Hearts is a dog rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. We do NOT take dogs in but instead, we rescue them from shelters. The Ace of Hearts Foundation is in memory of "Ace", a wonderful American Bulldog who was rescued from death, and touched the lives of many! (Especially founder Kari Whitman!) We do not discriminate against any breeds! IMPACT We could not survive without the invaluable support of its volunteers. Even if you are unable to adopt or foster a dog, don't fret! There are plenty of ways to turn your passion for animals into much-needed assistance. A lot of our wonderful wagging friends require medication and trips to veterinary clinics to ensure they're happy and healthy - with your help we can ensure these pups never go without everything they need for that good quality of life! VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES A standby volunteer is someone who can help out our furry friends on short notice - you would provide us with a schedule in advance of the days and times you'd be available to help throughout the week! Tasks could include freedom rides, supply distribution, even taking the pups to and from their veterinary appointments, and anything in-between in case of an emergency. You can even let us know what activities you'd prefer! Being a standby volunteer helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almost always requires some driving. There are endless things to do when you're on standby. You may get a call to help transport a dog from an old foster to a new one, help some of our pups out by dropping off their food or medication, or, most importantly, give a dog in danger a freedom ride from the shelter! REQUIREMENTS Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license. Available for us to call on you whenever we need assistance (within the previously agreed upon times that you'd be available!) is also a great way to lend a hand. Become a volunteer for Ace of Hearts and help us continue to save and improve the lives of our amazing furry friends. QUESTIONS? Please reach out to us if you believe you could assist us at any point throughout the week - we always need the support of our wonderful volunteers, and we couldn't make any of this happen without you! E-mail us at: volunteers@aceofheartsdogs.com Thank you so much - The Ace Team hopes to hear back from you soon!

Quick Overview: If you have experience with dogs and are comfortable with large dogs, sign up to foster a loving dog from Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue! Mission: Ace of Hearts is a non-profit dog rescue based in Los Angeles that saves dogs from the shelters, giving them a new chance at life. Impact: Being accepted into our foster program is an extremely rewarding experience - you get to help rehabilitate dogs that were left to die at the shelter, giving them a second chance to be adopted! We need your help by providing them a loving home until they're adopted and we'll provide everything else - a bed, food, treats, toys, a leash, and a collar. We are constantly in contact with you to help you! We also pay our fosters!! Please inquire. You are not alone in this process. Some of these dogs have never slept on a bed, or been in a home, or even had a ready-for-them meal. Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Provide a sweet dog with a loving home Provide transportation to/from the vet as needed Bring the dog to adoption events every other Saturday at the Petco in West Hollywood Help facilitate meet and greets so these wonderful dogs find homes!! Requirements: Be 21+ (if under 21, then to have parent approval) Foster for at least 4 weeks - but if you can only do 2, we'll take that too! Have reliable transportation and be able to bring them to our adoption event in West Hollywood once a month and to a vet of our choice. If you do not we can work with you. Be comfortable with bigger breeds! We're a bully breed rescue and most of our pups weigh 50-90 pounds. Please do not reply if you can only do small dogs! Have NO CHILDREN UNDER 10 OR CATS in your home (please do not inquire if you have children or cats. Other dogs are okay!) Be able to start immediately Have already discussed this with all landlords/managers/spouses etc. and have their approval Thank you all so much - we really hope to hear from you soon :)

Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue is always in need of Standby Volunteers who can be on-call in case we have a last minute transportation need. It could be anything from taking a dog to the vet, to a new foster, getting medication or supplies to a dog or most importantly, being a dog's hero by giving her/him a "freedom ride" from a shelter where they may be euthanized. If you can't be on-call for a full day, even a few hours helps a lot. We like to have a list of Standby Volunteers scheduled 2 weeks out. Do you have any time in the next 2 weeks that we could add you to this list? If you do, please let us know the days and time windows. In addition to Standby Volunteers, we're also in need of doggy chefs! If you're able to cook for our dogs in your kitchen, we'll reimburse the food costs. Here are 2 recipes that we use: Chicken and Rice Recipe Ingredients: 2 Cups Plain white rice (sushi/long grain, basmati) 2 Pounds ground Chicken 2 Pounds ground Turkey Small Bag of Frozen Organic Peas and Carrots Substitutions: If chicken is not available 4 Cups of Turkey in total is fine. Can substitute extra lean beef for the chicken and/or turkey. Instructions: Cook rice in a pot, water should cover the rice 3 inches. Bring to Boil and stir. Add meat/veggies in raw stir in well put on lid and simmer. Simmer until water is absorbed. Let cool and package in zip lock bags. Beef and Rice Recipe Ingredients: 2 Cups Plain white rice (sushi/long grain, basmati) 4 Pounds ground Beef* Small Bag of Frozen Organic Peas and Carrots * Use the leanest ground beef you can get (90% lean to 96% lean preferred) Instructions: Cook rice in a pot, water should cover the rice 3 inches. Bring to Boil and stir. Add meat/veggies in raw stir in well put on lid and simmer. Simmer until water is absorbed. Let cool and package in zip lock bags. If you're able to be a doggy chef, please save the receipts and it would be perfect if you could drop the meals off to us at Petco (508 N. Doheny Dr., WEHO) on Saturday, May 14th or 30th @ 1:00-2:00 pm so we can distribute to our fosters who are coming to pick-up supplies between 2:00pm-4:00pm. Please reach out if you're able to help our pups!
