Have an interest in coding? Share your knowledge and manage interactive demonstrations in Discovery World, using Cubelet(r) Robot Blocks. Cubelets are a fast and easy way to engage children and adults in learning the basics of robots and coding by building modular robots from programed cubes. Tactile Outer Space Facilitator Our Tactile Outer Space table uses a variety of touchable 3-D printed materials to engage visitors with outer space. Originally designed to be an accessible activity for our blind and low vision guests, but anyone can enjoy these activities! Facilitators will help guests interpret the models, help guests access the Universe of Sound website via a tablet and assist in making pipe cleaner constellations. Training and background materials are provided. Tactile Outer Space Facilitators usually sit behind a table during their shift. Set up requires minimal lifting and carrying of materials. OPENINGS AVAILABLE, APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED ON A ROLLING BASIS AGE Minimum age 14 years old COMMITMENT & SHIFTS MINIMUM 1 shift per month for a total of 28 hours (8 shifts) Shifts available Wednesday-Sunday 9am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-4pm REQUIREMENTS Online background check for those over 18 and Liability Waiver and Confidentiality Policy required USEFUL SKILLS TO HAVE OR SKILLS YOU CAN DEVELOP Public speaking, organization, group management, time management, basic coding, basic robotics

Assist Discovery World’s Guest Services Team in running our virtual reality exhibit, the Virtual Explorer. Help with line management, getting guests into and out of the headset and general assistance to the Guest Services Staff working at the exhibit. Volunteer shifts are available, Tuesday-Friday 8:45am-12:30pm and 12:30-3:45pm, Saturday-Sunday 9:45am-1:30pm and 1:30-4:45pm. Volunteers will be tasked with helping families to create design projects to take home, helping to clean-up work stations, restock activity supplies, and more. Our internship program is designed to be a career-based learning experience. Interns will assist staff in all aspects of daily care for both exhibit and quarantine animals.
