Mission Statement

Community Service is a private, non-profit agency incorporated in 1921 to provide educational, recreational, and social activities. As part of its ongoing activities Community Service provides programs to service the needs and interests of the people of local communities while maintaining the historic Community House.

Description

Community Service began in 1921, when Mrs. George Mandell built the Community House as a living memorial to her son and others from Hamilton and Wenham who lost their lives in World War I.

Activities sponsored by the Community House include: concerts, family movie nights, ski and skate consignment sale, Ski Bradford trip, Two-Town Fourth of July Celebration, Breakfast with Santa, cultural events and trips into Boston, events and activities for Special Friends, scholarhips for high school students going to college.

Community House is also a gathering place for classes conducted by private instructors such as karate, spanish, music, fencing and more. We also rent space to non-profit organizations and private parties for functions, trainings, birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, bar mitzvahs, memorial services, etc.
