Mission Statement

The Visitor and Convention Bureau is a non-profit economic development agency responsible for competitively marketing Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Thurston County as a destination for conventions, tour groups and individual travelers.

The goal of these marketing efforts is to enhance the economic vitality of the region while celebrating the rich history and diversity of Thurston County.

Description

The Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) is a not-for-profit organization supported by lodging room tax, government budget allocations, and private membership. We have three prime responsibilities:
1. To encourage tourists to visit and enjoy the historic, cultural and recreational opportunities the destination offers.
2. To encourage groups to hold meetings, conventions and tradeshows in the city or area it represents;
3. To assist those groups with meeting preparations and while their meeting is in progress; and
to help visitors and meeting planners learn about the destination and area attractions and make the best possible use of all the services and facilities the destination has to offer.

We actively advertise Thurston County and collect and analyze visitor statistics to better understand the nature and direction of tourism in our area. Each year we publish several publications including a visitor guide, a meeting planner guide, and a visitor map.
