STARS exists to help students refrain from the use of alcohol, other drugs and violence and to enhance their educational achievement and character development.
The Center for Youth Issues-Nashville or more commonly known in the community as simply STARS provides a wide array and full continuum of youth prevention and intervention services. Following is a list of our programs:
STARS: Student Assistance Program which works with students and families providing best practice prevention and early intervention strategies for substance abuse and violence. STARS Specialists are school based and provide support for youth who are at high risk of alcohol, other drugs, behavioral problems and violence, including bullying.
Teens N Touch: School based program focused on sexual abstinence and teen pregnancy
Kids on the Block: Puppetry program geared to elementary aged students focused on issues such as prevention of substance and child abuse, sexual abstinence, cultural diversity, violence, organ donation and obesity.
