Mission Statement

The Positive Vibe Café is a training restaurant that provides a facility for people with disabilities to learn basic food service skills, which will aid them to secure employment. The Get Lost MD (Muscular Dystrophy) Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, directs this project and has worked for over 2 years to make this venture a reality. Several area chefs, food service consultants, physical and occupational therapists have collaborated to formulate an effective training curriculum.

There are separate programs for teaching people with physical and mental disabilities, as well as for those who are economically challenged. The bulk of the training occurs during off-hours and provides trainees the chance to work in a real working restaurant environment.

Description

The cafe runs training programs for disabled individuals in which they learn food-service and customer-service skills to prepare them for future employment. Positive Vibe also employs individuals with disabilities as well.
