Ethiopian Community in Minnesota (ECM) endeavors to promote successful integration of Ethiopians to the wider American society while preserving their cultural heritage. It also promotes the understanding and harmony between and among Ethiopians and members of the wider Minnesota community. In doing so, it is essentially facilitates communication about the history, backgrounds, languages and cultures of the respective communities. ECM hopes to lessen the burdens of Minnesota's governmental and nongovernmental agencies and establishments that work with immigrant communities by serving as the main contact for the Ethiopians, and by gathering and disbursing information and resources in a manner that efficiently addresses the needs and concerns that are unique to Ethiopians residing in Minnesota in a colorful and memorable manner
Ethiopian Community in Minnesota (ECM) serves all Ethiopians regardless of their ethnicity/race, differences in age, gender, language, sexual orientation, religious background, or political affiliation.
ECM continues to reach out to the younger population of our community realizing that it is only through them that the sustainability of our community is guaranteed.
In addition, ECM represents Ethiopia and its diverse culture at the annual Festival of Nations by displaying the artifacts of the multiple cultures of Ethiopia to Minnesotans.
