I have walked the Heart Walk for the Greater Washington Region every year for 14 years. Both of my parents had heart valve problems and I had heart surgery in 1964. This organization is responsible for the defibrilators found in airports, convention centers, and business areas. AHA provides educational materials on how to prevent heart disease. In addition, AHA gives grants to promising scientists for research.
