Mission Statement
Sundance Equine Assisted Therapies is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for children and adults living with disabilities using therapeutic equestrian activities. We provide individualized equine related therapeutic activities to people with physical, developmental, social, and emotional disabilities, in the South Plains Area. Sundance Equine Assisted Therapies enriches the lives of our riders in a caring, safe, and challenging environment that will enable them to reach their highest potential.
Description
In an Equine Assisted Activities program, a certified or specially trained riding instructor teaches children and adults with a disabilities how to ride a horse while getting their therapy. However, the environment of the horse can provide more than just riding skills. The programs which offer the equine environment to people with disabilities can teach companionship, responsibility, leadership, vocational, educational skills as well as offer competition venues in the different horse disciplines.
