Description
The New York Water Sentinels program was founded in 2011 as part of the national Sierra Club Water Sentinels program. New York Water Sentinels work to protect, improve and restore our waters by fostering alliances to promote water quality monitoring, public education, and citizen action. New York Water Sentinels believe that by connecting with other concerned citizens and monitoring the water quality in local rivers and streams citizens are empowered to protect the safety of their drinking water. Through citizen science they are able to support their local regulators in controlling water quality and protecting communal aquifers and other drinking water sources.
