Mission Statement

Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) seeks to encourage collaboration between North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, to build organizational capacity throughout the region, and create a constituency of young leaders committed to regional development and public service. To that end, PiLA offers year-long fellowship opportunities to highly qualified North American university graduates, placing them with a variety of nonprofit and non-govedrnmental organizations across the Latin America and the Caribbean.

Description

Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) was founded in 2003 by a group of Princeton University undergraduates, faculty, staff and alumni as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives no financial support from Princeton University.

PiLA relies on the generosity of countless individuals and corporate and private concerns to fulfill the PiLA mission.

PiLA reflects the efforts of Princeton University alumni and former PiLA fellows and friends to fulfill the University’s motto to work "in the service of all nations."

Currently, PiLA fellows serve in a dozen countries with 25 partner organizations.
