Mission Statement

The specific purpose of this corporation is to rescue former polo ponies that have been neglected, abused, seized by law enforcement or are at risk of slaughter, provide any needed veterinary care or re-training, and find them new, loving homes or provide for a safe retirement, as appropriate. The corporation will also rescue ex-racehorses appropriate for polo that are at risk of slaughter and provide veterinary care and training as needed in order to rehome them in the polo industry.

Description

We are a small rescue aimed at primarily helping to rehome polo ponies after their polo careers are over, or provide a safe retirement for polo ponies that are found at auction, seized by animal control agencies or whose owners do not have the wherewithal to provide for them. We do take in a limited number of horses from outside the polo community but polo ponies are our primary focus.

My children love helping out animals, and when I saw an article on a rescue organization for horses, we got involved right away, in August this year. The horses are those most in need of care and a permanent home, and have been so responsive to my daughters attention, grooming and treats. I have seen how the owners go all out to tend to the individual needs of each horse, including special diets. The horses seem to find placements quickly, allowing them to save more horses. We have found Polo Pony Rescue to be very worthwhile. I would recommend volunteering and supporting them in every way.
