GSMC is a nonprofit free medical clinic, providing free basic health care services to residents of Chester County, SC and surrounding areas who have no insurance of any kind (public or private) and whose income does not exceed 200% of the official federal poverty rates. The clinic has served more than 2,000 patients since mid-2002, providing over 5,000 medical visits and more than $2 million worth of free prescriptions.

Chester County has a population of 34,053 and is located in north central SC. With the ongoing closure of many mfg. businesses, the Chester County unemployment rate consistently hovers at more than 10%.
