Mission Statement

The mission of the Center of Concern is grounded in shared Religious Social Values and the challenges of Catholic Social Teaching. It emphasizes solidarity with those in poverty throughout the world. The Center's main focus is social justice and the transformation of inequitable structures and systems.

The work of Center of Concern during the past several years has been directed at analyses of globalization through the lenses of gender, class and race, with a concern for human rights, especially economic and social rights.

Working with a wide range of networks and coalitions, the Center contributes to international policy discussions and promotes people-centered economic development through education and advocacy. The Center reaches out to faith-based communities, churches and schools; to grassroots groups and other non-governmental organizations working for the common good; and to members of the international women's movement committed to justice for all women, their families and communities.

Description

The website has thousands of pages of fact sheets/bulletin inserts, reflections, study guides, teaching units, personal prayer experiences, liturgical resources, and prayers on more than 50 social justice topics from poverty to torture to immigration.
