Mission Statement

Though known as an American Art Center since 1871, The Salmagundi Art Club also celebrates the living artist of today with a vast array of events open to the public; demonstrations, exhibitions, art classes, and lectures. In addition to these art appreciation progrmas, Salmagundi also boasts an artist membership which entends overseas.

Description

From intimate gatherings to gala events, the cultural ambiance of the

Salmagundi Art Club of New York has been attracting artists and their

colleagues since 1871. Located in the heart of Greenwich Village and housed

in the distinctive Hawley Mansion, Salmagundi captures an atmosphere of the 1850â s reflecting the unique elegance and charm of old New York. In addition to the Art Gallery on the main floor of this landmark building, there is also a dining room, billiard hall, boardroom, rare book library, and parlor. From floor to floor, the environment not only recalls the warmth and creativity of yesteryearâ s bohemian artists, but extends to the present day spirit of the Club.
