Mission Statement

Shepherded by the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, the Nashville Wealth Building Alliance (NWBA) is a broad-based collaboration dedicated to promoting financial stability for low- and moderate-income individuals and families of Nashville/Davidson County. The coalition engages business, community, government and faith-based organizations to provide direct services and create linkages that will enable struggling families in the community achieve new levels of self-sustaining financial independence.

Description

The "Earn It. Keep It. Save It." campaign, launched by the Nashville Wealth Building Alliance in 2004, promotes the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to low income wage earners. During the 2006 tax season, more than 5,000 tax returns were completed by more than 150 VITA volunteers. An estimated $2.8 million was claimed in EITC refunds alone.
