The concept for camp was developed with the vision of offering the whole family opportunities for recreational and skill building activities while living with a child with a mental illness disability

Camp Get-A-Way is a place where families can experience activities designed to rekindle the

joy of being a family. Camp Get-A-Way is a place where communication is encouraged and respected. Camp Get-a-Way is a place where recovery can become a reality. Families are provided with the opportunity to practice skills taught by trained staff (volunteers) in the research based Common Sense Parenting model designed by Boys and Girls Town of Nebraska. In a supportive environment families learn from one another and are afforded the opportunity to meet other families experiencing the same day to day struggles.
