Mission Statement

The Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service is committed to investing in people to increase community engagement. We do this by building relationships, soliciting input, providing information, connecting community residents to resources and supporting the process to strengthen communities across Philadelphia.

Description

The Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service (OCEVS) was created in 2010 when Cities of Service, a nonprofit founded by former Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg, and the Rockefeller Foundation awarded Philadelphia a Cities of Service Leadership Grant.

Under the previous administration, OCEVS was known as the Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service (MOCEVS).

Now, under Mayor Kenney’s administration, OCEVS falls under the Office of the Managing Director, Michael DeBerardinis.

The office, located at 1401 JFK Blvd., is led by the Mayor's Chief Service Officer, Stephanie Monahon.
