Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Common Thread Collective is dedicated to creating ownership and economic opportunity for low-income women and their families, empowering them to initiate personal and social change while maintaining a respect for cultural diversity.
Our Core Values are as follows:
- Embrace diveristy as a catalyst for potential and innovation
- Demonstrate and earnest passion for economic empowerment of women
- Be a positive force in the world
- Exemplify integrity in every way, every day
- Pursue a shared mission, vision, and purpose
- Encourage frank, honest, and truthful communication
We work in rural areas and some of the worlds worst hit areas for poverty. Our women are at danger of sexual trafficking and many were forced into prostitution as young as 8 years old. We focus on training women in lifeskills that are valuable in development, tailoring, embroidery, needlework, patternmaking, Math, English, and Economics. Along with our tailoring school, we are working hard to build the largest fair trade, happy, healthy, safe, garment manufacturing facility to employ or program graduates and further their economic growth and dependence.
We offer living stipends and tuition payments for our advanced students children, all of our students get a hot lunch, clean water, access to a life coach and mentor, financial training, access to health care, and a lift to their self esteem.
