Mission Statement

Rhode Island Students of the Future spreads enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math through robotics. We encourage young people from all backgrounds to participate in real-world inquiry-based science, technology, engineering and math activities that develop leadership, critical thinking, communication and teamwork. We manage FIRST LEGO League and Jr. FIRST LEGO League in Rhode Island as well as the Robot Block Party, an expo that celebrates robotics, mechanical design and computer programming in industry, universities, community organizations and K-12 schools. These programs, which use robotics to engage 4-14 year olds in science and technology, serve over 800 students annually.

Description

Rhode Island School of the Future (RISF) is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization that engages Rhode Island children in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). RISF has a long history of supporting STEM outreach for children and professional development for teachers, coaches and mentors. We produce the Robot Block Party, a STEM expo, and were instrumental in bringing FIRST LEGO League (FLL), and its sister program, Jr. FLL, to Rhode Island in 2001 and 2005, respectively. We manage both FIRST programs under a contract with US FIRST in New Hampshire.
