Description

Shaw Main Streets is a nonprofit commercial revitaliation and histroic preservation organization serving the 7th and 9th Streets, NW, commercial corridors in Washington, DC's Shaw neighborhood. In operation since 2003, the organization promotes the neighborhood as a an attractive, clean, and safe place to live, work, shop, play, and pray for residents and visitors alike. We have attracted over 120 new businesses and provide services to over 225 retail businesses in our service area. We host a variety of events each year, ranging from neighborhood open houses to bar crawls, holiday parties to annual meetings, art walks and other festivals. We publish a quarterly newsletter, conduct tree box plantings, neighborhood cleanups, neighborhood tours, and much more. Volunteers are needed in all areas of interest, from event greeters and street teams to photographers, writers and graphic designers to artists, fundraisers and accountants to house painters. Volunteers can participate in a single event or as many activities as they are interested in.
