Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The AmeriCorps Achievement Connections Math Tutoring Program is a partnership with the United Way of Dane County, the Morgridge Center for Public Service, Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, Madison Metropolitan School District to provide students with individualized academic tutoring and mentoring in order to improve student academic performance in high school and readiness for college and career. The program is aimed at high school students in Algebra or Geometry who would benefit from extended learning opportunities. Our goal is to increase the number of students passing algebra by 10th grade with a grade "C" or higher.
Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer.
We are looking for caring and dedicated tutors that can commit at least two hours of tutoring a week to students enrolled in the AmeriCorps Achievement Connections Math Tutoring Program and are proficient in Algebra and Geometry. Tutoring sessions model good study habits by being focused and paced to students' needs. The sessions may focus on only class work and/or basic skills development. All tutors will receive a comprehensive tutoring manual and on-going support and guidance from the AmeriCorps team.
Achievement Connections can be found in Madison West, East, and Memorial High Schools, as well as Middleton-Cross Plains High School.
