Mission Statement
Minnesota Reading Corps is a statewide initiative to help every Minnesota child become a successful reader by the end of 3rd grade. The program places AmeriCorps members as literacy tutors in sites across Minnesota to implement a researched-based early literacy effort to help struggling readers. The Minnesota Reading Corps strategies are designed for both preschool-aged children and K-3rd grade students.
Description
Reading is an essential skill for success in life. You can make a difference in the lives of children who are not on track to succeed.
Caring volunteers trained to work with students on specific literacy skills are a powerful presence in the lives of students learning to read. Your time, attention and patience can make all the difference in the literacy success of children in your community.
Volunteer opportunities are available at a limited number of Minnesota Reading Corps sites across Minnesota, including Albert Lea, Duluth, Grand Rapids, Minneapolis, Moorhead, Rush City, St. Cloud and St. Paul.
