Mission Statement

The Parent Connection is committed to supporting parents with infants and young children throughout San Diego County. We provide quality educational programs and opportunities to establish friendships through playgroups and various social activities.

1. TO PROVIDE A SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR PARENTS
Playgroups are established providing parents and their children the opportunity to develop friendships and share experiences. These playgroups are organized by birth year and location. Multi-lingual, working, single, and special needs parent groups are offered.

2. TO PROVIDE EDUCATION FOR PARENTS
Education programs are scheduled during the day at various centers to help support parents. Parents and children may attend these lectures. Various parenting programs will be provided in the evenings.

3. TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND SERVICES TO COMMUNITY NEEDS
The Parent Connection organizes fundraising events and makes donations to designated charities through The Parent Connection Community Resource Fund (i.e. Perinatal Loss Program at Scripps hospitals, Madison’s Fund).

4. TO PROVIDE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES
Annual social events are held: Fall-Harvest Festival (Family), Spring-Spring Fantasy Luncheon (Moms), and Spring Carnivals and Family Swap Meets.

Description

We are a non-profit parenting support group sponsored by Scripps Health.
The Parent Connection brings San Diego families together to provide support, share experiences and information, enjoy social activities and build lasting relationships.

Since 1980 the Parent Connection, formerly known as Las Madres, has guided both first-time and seasoned parents through the maze of parenthood. More than 3,000 San Diego families belong to our organization. Our diverse membership includes parents in their 20s, 30s and 40s, married couples, singles, working parents and stay-at-home parents. Families with newborns, young children and children in their teens all find support through the Parent connection.

Our volunteer board of directors donates their time and effort to help provide the best possible programs to meet parents’ needs. Our programs are run by medical experts and marriage and family professionals who help guide our members through the challenges of parenting whether it is getting your baby to sleep through the night, adjusting to parenthood, potty training or talking to your child about puberty.

Parent Connection annual special events are a great way to socialize with other members. And our membership benefitsinclude group discounts to California theme parks and attractions, which more than cover the cost of annual membership.
