What We Do
ASIRT

  • alerts travelers to the realities of road use and road culture with comprehensive country-specific Road Travel Reports (RTRs).
  • raises the awareness of U.S. governmental agencies. ASIRT's efforts have led to an expansion of road travel information in the State Department's country-specific Consular Information Sheets.
  • works with U.S. embassies to foster collaborative road safety civil society partnerships.
  • assists the study abroad community in its road safety preparedness and itinerary planning.
  • acts as a clearinghouse for transferable models of road safety education, advocacy and public awareness strategies.

How We Do It

ASIRT

  • encourages members of Congress to recommend that the State Department take an active role in raising awareness of the risks of global road travel.
  • recommends that U.S. embassies worldwide help initiate collaborative efforts between American-based civil society road safety organizations and host country civil society.
  • works with representatives of foreign governments to demonstrate the importance of transferable models of road safety education and advocacy.
  • creates satellite ASIRT organizations abroad to promote road safety education and advocacy
  • develops road safety information in cooperation with the international education community
