Mission Statement

The Colony Public Library is dedicated to improving its patrons' quality of life by facilitating their search for informational, educational, and recreational resources and materials. The Library strives to select, organize and provide access to a wide variety of the best materials, to be responsive to the needs of the public and to cultivate the maximum use of the Library's resources and services.

Description

The Colony Public Library is located at 6800 Main Street and provides free services to all residents and nonresidents.

The Library has over 110,000 items in our catalog, including print and downloadable books, music CDs, books on CD, DVDs and CD-ROMs. We have 23 computer workstations for public use plus state of the art Wi-Fi service through our fiber optic connection. We also have 3 children's computers preloaded with fun and educational programs for chidren from preschool through grade school to enjoy. We have a rich collection of electronic resources that cardholders can access from any computer, including homework help, language learning, science, literature, business and health resources, as well as electronic material for children and for Spanish speakers.

The Library also holds many interesting and timely programs and events throughout the year for all ages, including story times for children, monthly events for our teen Library users, and a variety of adult programs. We have a Quiet Room for undisturbed study or reading, a Study Room for small groups, and a TeenSpot designed by our Teen Advisory Panel.
