Mission Statement

Our Mission

The purpose of Eagle's Wings shall be to become aware of and meet family and personal needs: physical, emotional, and spiritual; to meet those needs through the joint efforts of caring Christians with referrals to other service agencies; and to give help in such a way to encourage self-respect, dignity, self-reliance and a desire to help others.

Description

The mission of the Eagle's Wings Ministry is the same today as it was when we began in 1989. Our call has been to provide food to families that have fallen on hard times. This program is considered the focus of our Ministry. On a monthly basis we distribute food to Beaufort County residents. This food can be taken back into their homes to feed their families good wholesome, fresh foods that they would not be able to afford.

Each time a client comes in we ask them to provide proof of income and expenses and proof of residence. This is in an effort to show accountability to those individuals and churches that contribute to our Ministry. This also encourages the client to take a more active role in controlling their expenses.

The majority of the foods we distribute are supplied through The Food Bank of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City an affiliate of Second Harvest. We also have great support from our local Food Lion Stores.

The Love Program has been developed to help the people of Beaufort County by providing monetary assistance for emergency needs. This fund is available for any individual in the County that goes through the casework process and is found to be in need. The Love Funds are donations from local churches and individuals in the community that have sent money earmarked for this program.
Our Ministry networks with other service oriented agencies in Beaufort County so we can verify each client's situation. We assist with rental evictions, utility cut-off notices; prescription costs for diabetic, high blood pressure and heart related illnesses. We make personal contact with all vendors to verify need and the amount due. We also send all payments directly to the vendors; no money is given to the client.
If we are unable to meet a need for a client we resource and refer the client to other organizations that may be able to assist with their un-met needs.
