POWER CDC is a nonprofit community development corporation (CDC) based in Wichita, Kansas that encourages and promotes the restoration and revitalization of neighborhoods through business development, sustainable community development, economic empowerment, and community preservation.
Description
POWER CDC was conceived and organized in 1994. It began with private citizens in the Wichita community exchanging ideas and concerns about how to make a positive difference. The group is comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds in entrepreneurship, academics, law, government, and clergy.
POWER CDC efforts address social needs in the areas of affordable housing, initiating commercial activity, arts & culture, and restoration of historic landmarks in blighted neighborhoods.
POWER CDC is driven by high expectations from its board members, supporters, and community to pursue positive change in Central-Northeast Wichita.
